Lincoln and party, including Secretary of State William H. Seward and Comdr. Dahlgren, leave Navy Yard in cutter to visit French frigate Gassendi lying in river. Lincoln, the first U.S. President to board French warship, receives 21-gun salute. Mrs. Lincoln and her sister wait in carriage at Navy Yard.
