Lincoln, presidential aide William O. Stoddard, and U.S. Senator Preston King,
of New York, listen to a band performance by New York's Second German Regiment,
also known as the "Cameron Rifles." The band honors Lincoln with the tunes, "Hail to the
Chief," and "The Star Spangled Banner." A newspaper reports, "His
Excellency bowed his thanks and retired." New York
