In court all day, Lincoln also writes to Trumbull about political
situation in Connecticut. "It would both please, and help our friends
there, if you could be with them in the last days of the fight.
Having been there, I know they are proud of you as a son of their own
soil, and would be moved to greater exertions by your presence among
them. Can you not go? Telegraph them, and go right along."
