To Mark Delahay of Kansas Lincoln writes: "I can not enter the ring
on the money basis—first, because, in the main, it is wrong;
and secondly, I have not, and can not get, the money." If, however,
Delahay is appointed delegate to convention, Lincoln will supply $100
for expenses. He writes to Trumbull about Delahay's senatorial
ambitions.
