Correspondent of New York Tribune describes Lincoln's day: "Monday
morning found him on the alert. . . . He was to be found on the
street, in offices or workshops, and took especial delight in
familiarizing himself with our people. . . . In the afternoon he
delivered another speech to an immense audience."
