Moulton and Anthony Thornton leave Shelbyville in the morning for Sullivan, Illinois, the next
stop on the circuit court itinerary. Along the route, they stop four miles north of Shelbyville
at the home of John Ward, where they have dinner before departing at three o'clock. The men
