Lincoln files the affidavit of Jonathan Miller. Lincoln, William Herndon, and
Stephen T. Logan are defending Miller and his wife Susan in the slander case of
Beatty et ux. v. Miller et
ux. The plaintiffs William Beatty and Martha Beatty are suing the
Millers regarding some damaging remarks that Susan Miller allegedly made about
Martha Beatty and a Dr. Sullivan. Order, 1 August 1845, Beatty et
